Brief project description

In Belgium, individuals with diabetes who need specialized treatment are followed-up in hospital-based centers in the context of a convention. About 100 diabetes centers throughout Belgium are recognized by the INAMI-RIZIV. Through regular data collections, the IQED project monitors quality of care in these centers and provides individualized feedback, helping the centers to improve their quality of care. The project is executed by Sciensano and governed by a group of national experts.

The IQED project studies the quality of care of adult patients with diabetes. The project has 2 goals:

  • The main goal is to perform an audit of the quality of care to patients with diabetes and to promote the improvement of quality with health care professionals
  • The second goal is to analyse the evolution and the impact of health care on patients with diabetes and to study diabetes from an epidemiological point of view.
