Brief project description

The HIV/AIDS registry was established in 1984, at the beginning of the epidemic. The purpose of the data processing and analysis is to describe the evolution of the epidemic of HIV and aids in Belgium. The data collected by the channel doctors, laboratories and AIDS Reference Laboratories allows to follow the incidence of infection and AIDS-related mortality in the population and to describe the epidemiological profile of patients and the risks associated with the infection. The publication of statistical results contribute significantly to decision making and development of prevention campaigns.
